Christmas Fair is a Definite Hit

Volunteers who manned the Friends stall at the Kelham Island Christmas Fair had a busy day. And a very worthwhile one as well.

The Fair has been running for many years now and is extremely popular, so hundreds of people saw the Friends stand and graphics telling the Portland Works story.

Dozens of visitors stopped to talk to the volunteers, many of them also buying various items that were for sale, including cutlery, booklets, historic prints and other Sheffield-related products. We also signed up more “Friends”, i.e. donors who gave £20 or more to support our projects.

This was the first time Friends of Portland Works had taken a stall at this event, but it will not be the last, and we have already earmarked it again for December 2018.

Victorian clothing is the rule for the Fair, and John Clarke and Tim Reynolds clearly entered into the spirit!
